Jigawa state indigenes studying in different tertiary institutions in the country have petitioned the state government over non-payment of 3 years scholarship allowances.
The petition was signed by the Chairman of the Association of jigawa students of tertiary institutions, Comrade Hassan Hadejia of Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa and made available to newsmen in Dutse.
He explained that the state government paid half of the registration fees to its indigenes every year leaving unbearable scholarship arrears yearly.
Comrade Hassan Hadejia said that this unwholesome trend was conceived and inherited by the present administration blindly for unknown reasons perhaps to punish or retard the efforts of students in furtherance of their studies.
The petition therefore, called on Governor Badaru Abubakar to wade into their plights with the hope of resolving the unpaid scholarship dues to the students.
When contacted, the Executive Secretary of the state scholarship board, Mallam Kamilu Ado Ringim said the state government is up to date in monthly payment of scholarship within and outside the state.
He assured the students of prompt payment of scholarship soon.
It could be recalled that the state government had conducted a screening in January, 2021.
However, after 5 months, they board selected only 3 schools within the state and disbursed the money to some of the students.
