The 15 year-old teenager Umar Ali

Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of a 15 year old teenager Umar Ali at Bela by Gadar Dan Madanho at Ungoggo local government area of the State.

The Public Relations Officer of the Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in his office.

According to him, the emergency response team received a distress call at 09:36 am, that a teenager had drowned in a pond while swimming.

He explained that the rescue team immediately swung into action and succeeded in evacuating the body unconscious and later confirmed dead by health officials.

The Public Relations Officer decried over rising cases of drowning during local swimming as a 25 year old man Sani Alhassan had also lost his life at Saye village in Bichi local government area.

Saminu Yusif Abdullahi reaffirmed the agency’s readiness in enlightening the general public on safety measures.

As the Kano State Fire Service had recieved the second batch of students from Dala Orthopedic hospital for fire safety awareness and emergency campaign, noted that the students received rigorous training and fire safety lecture presentation by Senior Fire Supretendant, Sabo Wada Abdullahi, who charged participants to maintain safety at all times.

The Public Relations Officer urged the general public to report cases of road accidents, drowning, fire disaster and collapsed buliding to the nearest fire service office or through it’s 24 hours telephone lines.
