The Director General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr Ifedayo Adetifa as the new Director-General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

This was disclosed in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

Dr Adetifa replaces former NCDC chief, Chikwe Ihekweazu, who recently got a new job as the Assistant Director-General of Health Emergency Intelligence at the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Dr Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa obtained his medical degree at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State and trained in Paediatrics and Child Health at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

He studied Epidemiology at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he bagged his MSC and PhD.

Until his appointment, Dr Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa was an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
