A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State following an attack on Yelwa Zangam area of the Local Government.
The attackers were said to had dislodged the bridge leading to the community around 8pm last night before carrying out the attack.
17 corpses were deposited at the Plataeu Hospital while an unspecified number were also burned.
Meanwhile, aggrieved Youths in the Area have evacuated the corpses from the Plateau Hospital mortuary and taken to the Plateau State House of Assembly where the Speaker, Abok Ayuba called for calm.
The youths were also on their way to the old Government House but were prevented by Security Agencies.
Meanwhile, Governor Simon Lalong has expressed sadness over the incident and has called for calm.The curfew takes effect from 4 pm today 25/08/ 2021.
