Kwara state government has been urged to ensure the sustainability of its action plan in the education sector to build a new generation of leaders.

A World Bank Senior Education Specialist Dr. Tunde Adekola made the call at the state Educational Summit held in Ilorin.

He commended the state government for the initiative and its commitment of more than 25% UNESCO budgetary funding to education.

Dr. Adekola urged the state government to ensure its investments are directed towards provision of technology, training and retraining of teachers, creation of a regime of incentives for good performance and the involvement of communities in its drive to transform education in the state.

He called for collaboration between the state and non-state actors to chart a sustainable course for an improved education system.

In his address Kwara state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazq said his administration has moved basic education from near collapse state in 2019 through investments in infrastructure, recruitment of good teachers, and reinvigoration of monitoring system in the schools among others.
