Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has tasked personnel to adhere strictly to professional ethics of service and shun corruption and other vices.

Controller of the Ogun State Command, Mr Kolawole Amao, gave the advice in an interview in Abeokuta, at the end of NIS 2021 Servicom and the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit’s (ACTU) sensitisation hosted by the command.

Amao said often NIS personnel were confronted with  various forms of temptations because  some migrants and NIS facilities’ seekers liked to  breach  procedures for selfish interests.

“Our personnel face these challenges because  NIS functions are carried out through interface with humans.“This is major reason NIS leadership under Controller-General of Immigration Service (CGIS), Mohammed Babandede, strengthened Sevicom and ACTU.“This is to support President Mohammadu  Buhari’s directives on Security, Economy and Transparency,”.

Amao said Ogun Command remained zero tolerant to corruption and would not relent in its responsibility in enforcing professionalism.

He said any officer of the command caught in fraudulent acts or corrupt practices would be made to face the wrought of the law.

Mr Kolawole Amao said  the command was also committed to tighter boarder security for safety of the country and its citizens.

He further reiterated that the service would not relent in its mandates in the areas of Visa issuance, travel documents and management of migrants within Nigeria (internal control) among others.
