The House of Representatives has passed the Petroleum Industry Bill 2021 after considering and adopting the 318 clauses in the bill.

During the passage of the report of the joint committee Petroleum Upstream, downstream and Gas, Senator Sabo Mohammed explained that they held several meetings and considered several reviews on inputs made by the stakeholders at the public hearing.

Senator Mohammed said that about 752 provisions were Amended in the bill.

The bill would create an efficient governing institution with clear and separate role for Petroleum industry, and promote transparency, Good Governance and accountability in the administration of petroleum resources.

President Muhammadu Buhari had sent the bill to the National Assembly in September last year.
