Jigawa state government says it has established one hundred and seventy three small hospitals in one hundred and eighty seven wards in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the state primary health care agency, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim disclosed this to newsmen in Dutse.

He explained that the state government has recruited 1,500 new health workers to run the hospitals, in addition to the 3,100 inherited from the previous administration.

He said the state government is allocating 175 million naira monthly to purchase medical consumables for free distribution to the needy in the state.

Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim added that the state government has also allocated 480 million naira for the provision of nutritious food to children suffering from malnutrition.

He said, the state government has launched a special program to train 300 midwives on antenatal care in rural areas.

According to him, 120 vehicles has been provided to transport the sick in rural areas that were difficult to access in a bid to improve health care service delivery to the people at grassroot.

Dr. Kabiru commended Governor Badaru Abubakar for his support to the agency and the health sector.

He urged people of the state to work together in the second wave of covid-19 vaccines prevention to eradicate the disease.
