Gunmen have allegedly killed eight security operatives on Omagwa -Elele Road, in Rivers State.
The Gunmen reportedly attacked two security checkpoints on that axis killing 3 Air Force personnel, 3 Customs officers and 2 policemen with some others beheaded.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the attacks were carried out simultaneously on the Joint Task Force (JTF) checkpoints on Airport Road, Omagwa and Customs checkpoint at Isiokpo.
Items belonging to the security personnel were taken away.
Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni who also confirmed the attack said the Commissioner of Police had launched a full-scale investigation.
Mr Omoni noted that the area is calm with reinforced and increased joint patrols.
Public Relations Officer (GPRO), Special Operations Group, Nigerian Air Force Base Port Harcourt, Abdulrazak Ola said he got information that the checkpoints were attacked but was yet to confirm casualty.
