About 3,000 Islamic scholars and Imams from across Zamfara State have offered special prayers for peace, stability and progress in Nigeria.

The prayer session, held in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, brought together 2,933 Imams and Ulamas.

The scholars recited verses from the Holy Qur’an and offered prayers in Hausa, Arabic, English and Yoruba.

They prayed for an end to insecurity in Zamfara State and other parts of the country.

The Ulamas also sought Allah’s intervention in addressing the challenges facing Nigeria, while praying for peace, unity and prosperity.

Led by Liman Dan-Alhaji Sambo and other prominent scholars, the Imams prayed for divine guidance and protection for Nigerians working for the development of the country.

They also offered special prayers for Senator Abdulazeez Yari, asking Allah to grant him wisdom, strength and guidance in discharging his responsibilities.

The scholars commended Senator Yari for his humanitarian activities and support for vulnerable families across Zamfara State.

The prayer session was convened by Senator Abdulazeez Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

Speaking after the event, Senator Yari said the gathering was part of consultations with religious leaders to seek prayers for the nation, its leadership and the peaceful conduct of the 2027 elections.

He described his appointment to lead the APC Presidential Campaign Council as an honour to Zamfara State and the northern region.

Senator Yari urged the Imams to use their sermons to promote peace, unity and national cohesion.

He said the 2027 election should not be seen as a northern affair, but as a national responsibility.

The former Zamfara State Governor appealed to the Islamic scholars to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s success in the 2027 presidential election and encourage their followers to maintain peace before, during and after the polls.

He expressed confidence that the APC would win the election, while calling for the contest to be conducted peacefully and in accordance with the law.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mani Malam Mummuni, former governors, lawmakers, traditional leaders and other political stakeholders.
