The Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar, says Zamfara State will be among the leading states in mobilising massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Senator Yari stated this while briefing journalists in his hometown, Talata Mafara, shortly after a closed-door engagement with APC stakeholders from across Zamfara State.
He explained that the meeting was organised to brief critical stakeholders on the responsibility of supporting the Presidential Campaign Council and mobilising voters for the re-election of President Tinubu.
Senator Yari said although his responsibility as Director-General would require him to work across all parts of the country, stressing that, he considered it imperative to begin his mobilisation from Zamfara, which he described as his home base.
He said the state must strive to be among the top three states with the highest level of support for President Tinubu, regardless of the population or economic strength of other states.
The former Zamfara Governor said the consultation involved APC working committees at the ward, local government and state levels, as well as other critical stakeholders.
He urged the stakeholders to give the campaign council massive support, noting that, his appointment was an opportunity entrusted to him by God to contribute to the success of the party and the country.
Senator Abdulazeez Yari expressed confidence that the APC would win the 2027 presidential election, saying that, the party would mobilise support across the 36 states of the federation.
He said the campaign would be issue-based and would focus on the achievements of the Tinubu administration in the economy, security and other sectors, rather than attacking political opponents.
The APC chieftain acknowledged that, some of the administration’s economic reforms had caused hardship, but maintained that, they were necessary measures aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy.
On tax reforms, Senator Yari said the government’s intention was to ensure that people paid taxes according to their earnings, while businesses and producers received appropriate tax incentives to encourage investment and production.
He also expressed concern over the huge resources being committed to combating insecurity, which, he said, could have been channelled into infrastructure and economic development.
Senator Abdulazeez Yari further disclosed that, the campaign council would continue to focus on issues affecting Nigerians, particularly security and economic development.
He expressed optimism that, President Tinubu would overcome the country’s security challenges and create an environment where resources could increasingly be directed towards development and infrastructure.
The engagement had brought together over three thousand APC members from the 14 local government areas of the State.
