Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has distributed brand-new official vehicles to higher institutions and public education agencies to strengthen their administrative capacity, efficiency and effectiveness.
The vehicles were presented to the beneficiaries at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital.
Governor Lawal said the vehicles were institutional assets and operational vehicles intended to support administration, supervision, accreditation, official engagements and other legitimate responsibilities of the benefiting institutions.
He said the initiative was aimed at increasing the productivity of public institutions by providing reliable transportation and enabling officials to deliver services more efficiently and promptly.
Governor Lawal stressed that the vehicles were not personal entitlements of any government official but property of the Zamfara State Government, which must be used responsibly and strictly for official purposes.

The Governor charged the benefiting institutions to ensure proper custody, deployment, maintenance and documentation of the vehicles, warning that, heads of institutions would be held accountable for misuse, unauthorised use or unnecessary deterioration of the assets.
Governor Lawal said the government’s investment in education must be accompanied by a culture of maintenance, transparency and accountability to ensure that public assets provide value throughout their useful life.
He said his administration would continue to provide the infrastructure, equipment and institutional support required to improve higher education in Zamfara State.
The institutions and agencies that received the vehicles include the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State University, Talata Mafara, and Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara.
Others are the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gusau; Teachers Service Board; Senior Secondary School Board; Quality Assurance; Zamfara College of Arts and Science, ZACAS; and other public institutions of the state government.
