National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has inaugurated a national agricultural mechanisation training programme for 4,000 tractor operators and mechanics as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s mechanisation drive and boost agricultural productivity.

The ten-day training, holding at CSS Farms Training Complex, Gora, Nasarawa State, involves partnerships with Industrial Training Fund and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for certification.

NADF Executive Secretary, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, represented by the fund’s General Manager Technical, Mr. Ernest Ihedigbo described the programme as a strategic investment supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through enhanced mechanisation, employment and food security.

He stated that the programme aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, promoting food security, employment, economic diversification and inclusive growth through improved agricultural mechanisation nationwide.

He however, observed that Nigeria’s low tractor density limits productivity, stressing the training would produce skilled operators and mechanics to sustain government investments in tractors, modern technologies and agricultural transformation nationwide.

Head of Mechanisation, NAFD, Mr. Samuel Aende, said the programme complements the Fund’s partnership with John Deere for supplying 2,000 tractors and developing qualified mechanisation service providers nationwide.
