Jigawa State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government has commended the Birnin Kudu Local Government Council for the progress recorded in its documentation procedures compared to last year.
The Chairman of the committee who is the member representing Gwiwa Constituency, Alhaji Aminu Zakari, made the commendation while receiving the report of members of the committee at the end of a two day visit at the Local Government Secretariat.
While expressing satisfaction with the improvement in the local legislative procedures, Alhaji Aminu Zakari however stressed the need for the Speaker and councillors to always engage on oversight visit to project sites to strengthen service delivery.
He urged the council Chairman to endeavor to attached all relevant documents while seeking the vetting of the Due Process and Monitoring Bureau.
Alhaji Aminu Zakari also enjoined the council chairman and his management team to open files on individual projects awarded to contractors to serve as guide to administrative, financial and contractual agreement for future reference.
He stressed the importance of revenue generation and urged the local council to focus more attention on revenue collection which strengthen the institution of government.
Responding, the Chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government Council Dr. Builder Muhammad Uba described the committee’s second visit as educative and restated his readiness to make good use the recommendations of the committee to move the area forward.
Builder Muhammad Uba appraised the guiding and corrective approach adopted by committee without witch hunting anybody which will further strengthen local government administration.
