Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has launched the construction of twenty township roads covering 10.7 kilometres in Malumfashi local government area and nine township roads covering 6.6 kilometres in Bakori local government area of the state.
Speaking at the separate occasions held in Bakori and Malumfashi, Governor Radda described the projects as strategic investments to improve transportation, expand economic opportunities, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
He explained that while the 10.7 kilometer roads in Malumfashi will be constructed at the contract sum of N10.2 billion, the 6.6 kilometer roads in Bakori will gulp N6.1 billion as both projects include solar-powered street lights.
Similarly, the governor inaugurated a 3.9km dualized township road along the Funtua-Katsina Road and an upgraded 1.2km road along Tsohuwar Kasuwa area both within Funtua metropolis.
He said the projects which were part of his administration’s Urban Renewal Programme ,demonstrate the state government’s “commitment to providing infrastructure” that will stimulate economic growth and improve safe transportation.
He noted that while the 3.9-kilometre road was constructed at a contract sum of N5.8 billion, the 1.2-kilometer Tsohuwar Kasuwa road was executed at a cost of N637 million as both projects were fitted with solar-powered street lights to improve security.
“These projects represent a milestone in our administration’s effort to provide quality infrastructure that will support economic growth and enhance mobility. Indeed, quality roads are critical to improving access to healthcare and education, strengthening security, and connecting communities to economic opportunities”, Radda said.
He gave an assurance that his administration will continue to expand and modernize infrastructure through strategic investments that will improve livelihoods and create economic opportunities.
Earlier, the state Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Sani Magaji, said road infrastructure remains a major pillar of the administration’s ‘Building Your Future’ agenda which aims to connect communities, promote trade, reduce travel time, and attract investments.
He noted that the dualized Funtua township roads were executed in line with the highest engineering standards and announced that work on the Sokoto Road project in Funtua was progressing and will be completed later in the year.
