Kaduna State Chairperson of the Civil Defence Officers Wives Association, CDOWA, Mrs.Victoria Panam Musa has urged governments, institutions, communities, and families to continue to invest in the well-being of children.
The State Chairperson stated this on the International Day Against Child Labour which concided with the Assocation general meeting held in kaduna.
She expressed worry that based on statatics millions of Nigerian children have continued to be denied their fundamental rights and are open to abuses and child labour.
According to her, the Nigerian Government and all relevant stakeholders should intensify efforts toward protecting children, by expanding access to quality education, and eliminating child labour across the country through concerted efforts.
Panam stressed that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe environment free from exploitation. lamenting that child labour continues to deprive millions of children of their rights to education, health, protection, and development.
While speaking on the theme, “Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults”, she said it serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect every child’s right to safety, education, dignity and overall well-being.
The Chairperson called on women to be role model for the society by ensuring they employ legitimate means to put an end to child labour practices around them.
