The Jigawa State Government has approved the procurement of emergency relief materials for the state’s 2026 Flood Preparedness and Response Programme at a cost of over 835 million naira.

The State Commissioner Information, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Dutse.

According to him, the approved procurement covers the provision of
essential emergency food items, clothing materials, and building materials to ensure timely and effective response to potential flood incidents across vulnerable communities in the state.

He said, the council approval to SEMA,
is aimed to ensure that the emergency relief materials will be strategically positioned to facilitate rapid deployment and distribution whenever the need arises.

He further explained that, the food items will help address immediate nutritional needs of displaced persons, while the clothing and building materials will provide critical support for families affected by flood-related disasters.

Sagir pointed out that, the state government urged residents, particularly those living in flood-prone areas, to continue to observe safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.

He also called on the residents to support and cooperate with emergency management agencies in the event of any flood related emergencies.
