The quest by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state to position the state as the food basket and agricultural powerhouse of Nigeria has been yielding positive results.

This is because the agricultural sector which remain the backbone of New Niger Agenda has witnessed significant investment through large scale mechanised farming initiative, provision of improved seedlings, development programmes, irrigation support and strategic partnerships.

Commissioner For Information and Orientation, Mr Obed Nuhu Nana stated this at an interview with Radio Nigeria in Minna, on the three years of Governor, Umar Bago led administration.

Mr Obed Nuhu Nana explained that the remarkable journey of transformation, embarked by the present administration under the New Niger Agenda has continued to reposition Niger state on the path for sustainable growth, economic prosperity and inclusive development.

On infrastructure, the Niger state Commissioner For Information and Orientation, said the administration has recorded unprecedented progress through the construction and rehabilitation of strategic roads, bridges, urban renewal projects and rural access routes aimed at boosting connectivity, commerce and socio economic activities across the state.

Mr Obed Nuhu Nana noted that the healthcare also witnessed notable improvements with the revitalisation of over twenty primary healthcare  centres, expansion of medical services, improved healthcare infrastructure and the renewed effort towards accessible and affordable healthcare delivery for people of Niger state and those leaving in the state.

He however added that youth empowerment and women development had also received the desired attention it deserved.
