The Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), have called on individuals, organisations and institutions to ensure inclusion of People with Disabilities (PWDs) in their programmes and work plans.

Deputy Director, Planning and Budget Commission, Mrs. Priscilla Dariya, made the call during an advocacy visit held in recognition of the contributions of PWDs towards promoting nutrition across Kaduna State.

She commended the association for its commitment to advancing nutrition awareness and healthy living, particularly among women and children.

Mrs. Dariya noted that the dedication shown by the group had attracted recognition from Governor Uba Sani’s administration, which remained passionate about the health and wellbeing of citizens.

According to her, the association was listed among the first five community groups to be recognised nationwide for its outstanding contribution to nutrition advocacy.

Also speaking, National Chairperson of CS-SUNN, Ms. Jessica Bartholomew, stressed that nutrition was a fundamental right for everyone and should not exclude any segment of society.

According to her, inclusion remains a major focus of the organisation’s advocacy, emphasizing that no one should be left behind in nutrition and health interventions.

In her remarks, Women Leader of the Joint Association of People with Disabilities, Amina Nasiru, expressed appreciation for the recognition given to the association.

She also appealed for more inclusion of PWDs in government activities and decision-making processes, while commending the state government for renovating the association’s office to a modern standard.

Representatives of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs equally expressed satisfaction with Kaduna State’s efforts towards inclusion, noting that the government had continued to ensure that no group is left behind in its development programmes.
