President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to host and interact with members of the media at the inaugural Presidential Press Corps Annual Dinner, a landmark event aimed at fostering closer ties between the Presidency and the press.
Initially scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2026, the maiden edition of the event has now been rescheduled to Friday, June 19, 2026, and will hold at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The State House Press Corps (SHPC), an association of accredited journalists covering the Office of the President, established the dinner to celebrate excellence in presidential reporting.
According to the organisers, the forum will provide a relaxed, off-duty atmosphere for the President to interact one-on-one with correspondents who cover his administration’s daily activities.
In a statement, the Chairman of the State House Press Corps, Dr Anule Emmanuel, described the forthcoming event as a historic milestone for the media industry.
He said: “For the first time, we are bringing together the crème de la crème of Nigeria’s media industry to honour the dedicated professionals who report from the Villa, a beat that is often demanding and rarely offers public recognition.”
A major highlight of the event will be the formal decoration of President Tinubu as Grand Patron of the State House Press Corps.
The event is expected to attract top government officials and political leaders from across the country including Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, several state governors, and media executives.
