Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirants in Gombe state have condemned alleged attempt to smuggle Prof. Ali Pantami to participate in the party’s primaries.
This is made known in a communique signed by four PDP gubernatorial aspirants in Gombe state and made available to newsmen.
The four aspirants include, Alh. Abdukadir Saleh, Khamisu Mailantarki, Usman Aliyu and Monica Kaltho.
According to them it is against the law for a candidate to defect from one political party to another , and subsequently contest the same election process after votes have already been cast and counted in his favour in another party’s primaries.
The aspirants said they agreed to allow the party’s leadership to select, from among them, one candidate to fly the party’s flag in the 2027 gubernatorial elections.
While welcoming every well meaning individual into the party, they object to any alleged attempt to involve, Prof. Isa Pantami, in the ongoing PDP gubernatorial primaries, which have already reached advance stage.
The aspirants called on the leadership of the party to be guided and to desist from any action capable of undermining the rule of law or exposing the party to avoidable litigation.
According to them, such actions, if allowed, may lead to serious legal challenges from concerned party members and even opposition parties.
