Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of four persons following a fatal road accident involving a Golf Wagon at Tomas Dam in Danbatta Local Government Area.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the incident was said to have happened at about 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, after the Danbatta Fire Service Branch got a distress call from a resident, Suleman, who reported the crash.

According to the statement, the vehicle, which was travelling from Kano to Roni, crashed at Tomas Dam with 10 persons on board.

Firefighters from the Danbatta Fire Station were immediately deployed to the scene and successfully rescued all the victims from the wreckage.

The Service disclosed that four victims were rescued unconscious but were later confirmed dead.

The deceased were identified as Shamsiya Miko, aged about 35, Fatima Danlami, aged about 40, while the identities of two other victims were yet to be confirmed.

All the victims were evacuated to Danbatta General Hospital for medical attention and other necessary procedures.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by a burst tyre.

The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged motorists to drive carefully and responsibly to prevent road tragedies.

He also appealed to relevant authorities to urgently repair the Tomas Dam embankment to help protect lives and property.
