A former presidential candidate, Gbenga Hashim, has condemned the abduction of schoolchildren from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a statement, Dr. Hashim expressed sympathy to the affected families and called on the Federal Government and security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to secure the safe rescue of the children.

Referring to the recent elimination of an ISIS commander through a joint Nigerian-United States military operation, he acknowledged the significance of the achievement but cautioned against relying solely on isolated military successes in the fight against terrorism.

Dr. Hashim advocated a comprehensive national security strategy that combines sustained military operations with improved intelligence sharing, enhanced border security, expansion of rural policing, and targeted socio-economic interventions.

“Schools must never become theatres of fear,” he stated, warning that repeated attacks on educational institutions could deepen insecurity and negatively affect future generations.
