A former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has called on Northerners to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, stressing that Southern Nigeria should be allowed to complete its eight-year tenure in the interest of national unity and political balance.

Yari made the remarks during a meeting with Islamic clerics in his hometown of Talata Mafara Local Government Area, where special prayers were offered for Nigeria’s peace, stability, and leadership.

Speaking on the forthcoming elections, Abdulaziz Yari stressed the importance of prayers and political collaboration, particularly between Northern Nigeria and the South-West, describing the alliance as vital to national stability.

He highlighted the need for balance in Nigeria’s leadership structure, reiterated that, power rotation between the North and South remains essential for unity and fairness.

“it’s time for us to pay back. The support given to Buhari by the South-West was significant, and we must sustain that partnership for the progress of the country.

“The South-West supported former President Muhammadu Buhari throughout his tenure from 2015 to 2023, the North, especially the North-West, should reciprocate the gesture by backing Tinubu,” he said.

The former governor maintained that President Tinubu assumed office at a challenging period and requires continued prayers and support to navigate the country’s economic and security challenges.

“Leadership at this level is not easy. It requires prayers, patience, and collective effort. With time, stability will be achieved,” he added.

“We have gathered here to recite the Holy Qur’an and pray for our country, especially for our President. May Almighty Allah accept our supplications, grant Nigeria peace, and guide our leaders to do what is right for the betterment of the nation,” Yari said.
