Kebbi State Government says it has recorded a massive infrastructural transformation in the last three years, under the administration of Governor Nasir Idris.

The Commissioner for works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Faruk made the disclosure during the Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing organized by the Ministry of Information held at Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex, Birnin Kebbi.

Engr. Faruk said that between June 2023 and April 2026, the Ministry of Works executed and supervised numerous landmark projects in road construction, rehabilitation, bridges, drainage systems, public buildings, and other critical infrastructure aimed at improving the living standards of the people.

 

He explained that some of the completed projects included the dualisation of the Birnin Kebbi–Ambursa Road, rehabilitation of 30 kilometres of township roads in Birnin Kebbi, rehabilitation of Yauri township roads, completion of road networks within the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex, and the dualisation of the Argungu Old Bye-Pass Road.

According to him, the administration also completed major emergency flood intervention projects, construction of culverts and retaining walls, road expansion projects, and rehabilitation works in different parts of the state to ease transportation and support economic activities.

The Commissioner further disclosed that, the ongoing projects include the reconstruction of the Koko–Mahuta–Dabai Road, dualisation of Abdulsalami Road in Jega, rehabilitation of Ahmadu Bello Way in Gwandu, construction of access roads and drainage systems at the Badariya MOPOL Barracks, as well as the Kamba–Kwakkwaba–Sarfu–Banizumbu Road project.

Speaking on the impact of the projects, the Commissioner said the rehabilitation of the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport and the construction of a modern fuel dump restored full operations at the airport, leading to its selection by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria as one of the centres for the inaugural 2024 Hajj airlift operations.

He stated that the rehabilitation and modernisation of major roads within Birnin Kebbi had transformed the state capital into a modern and attractive city with improved traffic flow, enhanced aesthetics, and better economic opportunities for residents and investors.
