The Institute of Financial Planning Skills for Economic Sustainability has reiterated its commitment to collaborating with the government and the legislative arm to improve public financial management in the country.

Director General of the institute, professor Abdullahi Ya’u gave this commitment at the African financial planning conference in Abuja.

He said the institute invests heavily in research and development activities that have to do with promoting the frontiers of finance, both at the national and at the micro level.

The Director General further said the institute is unveiling a grand project titled “Citizens Priority Projects Compact” CPPC, a document that embodies developmental needs, gaps, and expectations of the entire
774 local government areas in the country.

He added that they had intense research identifying needs and gaps in all the wards and local government areas.

“The purpose of this document is to hold the political community accountable.
We’ve been moving from one election to another in the country with blank promises, without anything written down between the lead and the leaders.”

The DG reassured that this time around, as professionals need to take part in reshaping the direction of the country in terms of resource allocation and resource control.
And by so doing, we make this document public, available to every local government area.

Professor Abdullahi said the objective is to encourage every community to go into agreement with political office holders to agree on which part of this document are they going to implement when they get there.

According to him this way will discourage the way we are moving now, promises without anything concrete to the general public, saying they have relations with all the tiers of governance and all those who are in the political arena fir optimum results.

All the participants have expressed confidence that the institute will impact positively on the lives of Nigerians Husaini Sani Abubakar is the coordinator of the institute has assured efforts to integrate small scale businesses in Nigeria for economic prosperity.
