The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded four suspects in connection with criminal conspiracy and motorcycle theft in Zamfara State.
Speaking at a news briefing, the Spokesperson of the NSCDC, Zamfara State Command, ASCI Umar Mohammad, said the arrests reflected the Corps’ commitment under the leadership of Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi to ensuring justice and curbing criminal activities
According to the him, the suspects were apprehended on separate occasions in Gusau and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas on April 24 and 26, 2026.
According to him, the suspects are Bashir Hassan, also known as “Dan Musa,” 29, arrested at Saminaka area of Gusau and Tanimu Muhammadu, 25, arrested at Nasarawa Burkullu Market in Bukkuyum.
Umar Mohammed explained that, Preliminary investigations revealed that, Bashir Hassan, a native of Mainamaje in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, was found in possession of a suspected stolen Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.
He reportedly confessed to operating with a gang of four accomplices while two of whom are currently at large who pose as passengers before forcefully dispossessing commercial motorcyclists of their bikes.
The group is alleged to have carried out similar operations between April 22 and 24, 2026, in areas around Huda University, Sokoto Bypass Road, and Tudun Wada in Gusau.
The NSCDC said one stolen motorcycle valued at ₦1,075,000 was recovered during the operation while the victim of the attack was reportedly assaulted, rendered unconscious, and later hospitalized at Yerima Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau.
In a related development, the second suspect, Tanimu Muhammadu, confessed to disguising as a passenger before stealing a motorcycle from a commercial rider at Nasarawa Burkullu Market.
He was arrested while attempting to escape with the stolen bike.
The Corps reiterated its zero tolerance for criminal activities, including theft, violence, and conspiracy, warning that all suspects will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The NSCDC assured residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
