The former legal adviser to the ruling All Progressive Congress APC in Nasarawa State, Barrister Usman Mohammed Elegu, has joined the senatorial race to representing nasarawa south at the red chamber of the national assembly.
Barrister Usman Elegu, disclosed this to journalists shortly after notifying the leadership of the party of his ambition at the APC secretariat in lafia the state capital.
The legal luminary said that, politics is all about interest and what you have to offered for the people; adding that i have all it takes to offer to the public of my constituents if given the mandate and promised to embark on people’s oriented project if given mandate.
“My decision to join the race is for humanitarian service, and people-oriented projects looking at the situation we are in today, our motto is to change the narrative of politics as it goes on. And looking at what we have today, once we are given the opportunity to serve, we’ll change the narrative of politics as it exists today,” he said….”
According to him, his pedigree in politics and leadership style supersedes that of most of the contenders, as his tracks records and service to the people and the party are very visible and clear.
“Because all those people you are mentioning came and met us in this party. We laid the foundation of this political party. And I was into politics before all of them, and you should know that I know the terrain”
“I’m not new in the party, both at the state, local and at the ward level, and even at the national level. And none of these persons you mentioned has such experience. Politics is not all about personality” he added.
He assured of his support and respect to Governor Abdullahi Sule’s choice as the leader of the party, having said that he will ensure that all aspirants enjoys a fair level playing field ahead of the primaries.
“You should know that he has said the game is going to be free, fair and we will take him by his word; it’s going to be free and fair. He has been doing so, and he’s going to continue to do so”
“And this is not going to be an exception in 2027 election that is coming. It’s not going to be an exception. He is a person of his word, so we will take him by his word. And having been his follower, we also key into his policies.
