President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the new Minister of Housing and Urban Development.

 

The ceremony took place at the State House, Abuja, following his confirmation by the Senate.

 

Dr. Darma replaces Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, who recently resigned from the position.

 

Administering the oath of office, President Tinubu described the appointment as coming at a critical period in the nation’s development, and expressed confidence in the new minister’s capacity to deliver.

 

He noted that Dr. Darma’s background and experience make him well-suited for the task, urging him to bring his expertise to bear in advancing the housing sector.

 

The President also charged him to remain prepared to serve in any capacity in the interest of national development.

 

Dr. Darma is a scholar and administrator with academic qualifications in engineering and business administration.

 

He holds a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Liverpool and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Atlantic International University in the United States.

 

He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bayero University, Kano, and a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Benin.

 

A member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Management, Dr. Darma previously served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund between 2008 and 2012.

 

He also held positions as Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, as well as Commissioner for Rural and Social Development in Katsina State.

 

Before his appointment, Dr. Darma was President of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Human Development Centre in Katsina.

 

He has also contributed to academia as a lecturer at Bayero University, Kano.
