António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), has formally received and accredited Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the multilateral body.

Ibrahim presented his letter of credence on Monday, marking the official commencement of his diplomatic assignment.

Earlier, on April 1, the former Senator received his letter of credence from Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs after being cleared to assume duty.

According to a statement by Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Ibrahim assured the UN and the international community of the administration’s commitment to addressing longstanding challenges facing Nigeria.

He also sought the support and cooperation of the global community in advancing the country’s development agenda.
