The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS), Professor Tukur Adamu, alongside members of the University Management, has received the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello, and his team on an operational tour of the University campus.

The Chief Information Officer of the University, Jamilu Ibrahim Gusau, stated this in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau.

He noted that the visit came barely 24 hours after the FUGUS Management paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner at the State Police Command Headquarters in Gusau.

Speaking during the visit, CP Bello stated that the tour was aimed at assessing the existing security architecture and ensuring adequate preparedness to deter criminal activities within the University and its surrounding communities.

As part of the engagement, the Commissioner visited both male and female hostels on campus, where he addressed students and assured them of enhanced proactive security measures to safeguard their well-being.

He further advised students to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or individuals to the appropriate authorities for immediate action.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Tukur Adamu, personally conducted the Commissioner and his entourage around key strategic locations within the University, including the campus perimeter fencing and adjoining areas.

Professor Adamu expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police and his team for the visit, reiterating the University’s commitment to strengthening synergy and collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.

Earlier, the Commissioner held a closed-door meeting with the University Management, where discussions focused on modalities for reinforcing the existing security framework to further enhance the safety of students, staff, and host communities.

The visit was attended by all members of the University Management.
