The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to the welfare and financial security of its personnel.

Director-General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation-NAFIC, Major General Julius Osifo stated this during a sensitisation lecture on the Nigerian Army Personnel Insurance Scheme-NAPIS and other welfare initiatives, held at the One Division Headquarters, in Kaduna State.

Major General Julius Osifo explained that the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to ensure officers and soldiers are fully enlightened on welfare packages designed to protect them and their families.

He noted that the sensitisation lecture aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy, which emphasises the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a professional, resilient, and combat-ready force supported by robust administrative and welfare structures.

The DG highlighted key components of the NAFIC, including the Nigerian Army Welfare Insurance Scheme, the Directorate of Non-Public Funds and the proposed Nigerian Army Microfinance Bank.

According to him, these schemes provide personnel with life insurance coverage, soft loans for urgent financial needs, and financial services for soldiers, veterans, and host communities.

Major General Osifo disclosed that in the event a soldier pays the supreme sacrifice, the Army ensures that salary and allowances continue to be paid to the next of kin for two years to prevent financial hardship.

Earlier in his welcome address, General Officer Commanding One Division, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Wase described the engagement as a critical intervention that touches the core of welfare and operational readiness.

Represented by Brigadier General Sherif Aremu, the GOC stressed that awareness of the welfare schemes enables soldiers to serve with confidence, knowing that their families are protected in unforeseen circumstances.

Major General Wase also commended the Chief of Army Staff and the NAFIC for their efforts in modernising the insurance processes, making them more digital, accessible, and responsive to the needs of personnel.

He urged personnel to fully utilise the schemes and disseminate information across units to ensure all personnel benefit from the welfare initiatives.

The sensitization lecture drew officers and soldiers from various units and formations within the one division area of responsibility.
