Governor Abdullahi Sule of nasarawa state has denied a media report alleging that, he meet with the former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar secretly in Mecca, Saudi Arabia during their lesser hajj, and pledged financial support to help defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2027 general election.
A statement issued to newsmen by the chief press secretary to the governor Ibrahim Addra debunking the report saying it was completely fabricated and it is false in its entirety indeed.
The statement also quote the chief press secretary that, Governor Abdullahi Sule did not at no point during his lesser hajj in Mecca meet with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or anyone close to him.
It says the Governor was not even aware that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was in Saudi Arabia to perform the lesser hajj, rather than to pledge financial support or agreement of any kind.
“The allegations are false, fiction dressed, we are also compelled to point out that the timing and obvious intent of this publication, it is just two days ago, Governor Abdullahi Sule stood firmly with his party and his President when he seconded the motion moved by the Chief Scribe to the Government of the Federation for the North Central zone of the APC to adopt President Bola Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election..” he said.
“This is a matter of public record, It was witnessed by leaders of the party from across the region. Governor Sule has consistently and publicly used every available platform to extol the leadership qualities of President Tinubu and to affirm his unshakeable support for the president’s administration and his re-election bid” the governor added.
“Therefore for anyone, to publish a story portraying Governor Sule as a man secretly working to undermine the same President he so publicly supports is the height of junk journalism. It is a calculated act of political sabotage, the governor said….”
The statement further said, if indeed Governor Abdullahi Sule were to meet with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar he would be telling him to join to support President Bola Tinubu in executing the Renewed Hope Agenda but not otherwise.
It urge the public, particularly the people of nasarawa state, to disregard the report in its entirety and equally urged the Peoples Gazette to publish a retraction and offer apology without delay.
