The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment to national unity, democratic consolidation, and sustainable development, as it concluded its 2026 National Convention in Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who addressed party faithful at the convention, described the gathering as a critical platform to strengthen internal cohesion and renew the party’s vision.

He called on members to uphold the ideals of discipline, justice, and progress, while highlighting ongoing economic and electoral reforms aimed at improving governance and boosting investor confidence.

The President also pledged increased inclusion of youth and women in leadership, urging party officials to serve with integrity.

He expressed optimism about the future of the party and the continued growth of democracy in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A major highlight of the convention was the emergence of Natawe Yilwatda as the new National Chairman of the party, elected through consensus alongside other members of the National Working Committee.

In his acceptance speech, Yitlwatda thanked President Tinubu, delegates, and party members for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to promote unity, strengthen internal democracy, and build a more inclusive and disciplined party, while aligning the party’s direction with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Yilwatda also urged members to remain united ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, Chairman of the 2026 APC National Convention, Aminu Bello Masari, called on members to renew their vision and work collectively for greater victories.

In his welcome address, he emphasised unity, commitment, and the need to strengthen party structures, describing the convention as an opportunity to re-energise members and reposition the party for sustained leadership.

The convention concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, as party stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to building a stronger APC and a more prosperous Nigeria.
