Kebbi State Police Command says, normalcy has returned in Alwasa village, Arugungu local government area of Kebbi State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Bashir Usman disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi the state capital.
He said Alwasa Village, Argungu Local Government Area, is under control, following the prompt deployment of Police personnel and reinforcement teams who remain on ground overseeing security situation to maintain law and order and prevent any further breakdown of peace.
According to the statement, the incident, occurred during the Sallah celebration, involved a confrontation between some youths and resulted in injuries while the other victims subsequently succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Argungu.
It’s explained that a reprisal attack occurred, leading to additional fatalities and the command has since commenced a comprehensive investigation into the incident, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend all those involved.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, while condemn the acts, while warning that anyone found engaging in unlawful or violent conduct will be dealt with decisively.
He urged the residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and refrain from taking the law into their hands.
