The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has convened a high-level preparatory meeting to strategize ahead of the March Polio Immunization Campaign, as part of efforts to sustain the state’s polio-free status and strengthen routine immunization.

The meeting, held at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), brought together key stakeholders, development partners, and health officials to harmonize plans and reinforce coordination for the upcoming exercise.

Chairing the session, the Director General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of effective collaboration, accountability, and community participation in ensuring the success of the campaign.

He noted that achieving optimal results requires strong synergy among all actors involved in immunization activities across the state.

Professor Ibrahim also highlighted the need for clearly defined roles and responsibilities among stakeholders, including traditional ward heads, frontline health workers, and development partners.

He stressed that such clarity would enhance efficiency in service delivery and ensure wider coverage.

Particular attention was given to the responsibilities of Local Immunization Officers (LIOs), Ward Focal Persons, Cluster Consultants, and Field Volunteers, who are expected to play critical roles in mobilization, vaccination, and monitoring activities at the grassroots level.

The board reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a high-quality and impactful immunization campaign through strengthened partnerships and sustained community engagement.

Stakeholders were also urged to intensify advocacy efforts, maintain professionalism, and work collectively to ensure that every eligible child is vaccinated.

The March campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to eradicate polio and improve routine immunization outcomes in Kano State.
