Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-East to leverage its numerical strength to secure electoral victory in 2027.
Mai Mala Buni, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) Coordinator in the North-East region, made the call at the party’s zonal congress in Gombe.
” We should take advantage of our growing numerical strength across the region and the country at large to secure a resounding electoral victory in 2027,” he said.
He maintained that the party had demonstrated internal cohesion through the peaceful conduct of its ward, local government, and state congresses, describing the adoption of consensus in electing party officers as a sign of political maturity.
According to him,the unity displayed within the party should be sustained and translated into effective grassroots mobilisation.
He urged members to close ranks, set aside differences, and focus on strengthening the party’s base.
Governor Buni further commended the leadership of President Tinubu, acknowledging the administration’s efforts in steering the country through challenging times.
He also commended security agencies, particularly the military, for their role in maintaining stability in the North-East.
Reiterating the importance of due process within the party, he encouraged aggrieved members to channel their concerns through established mechanisms, stressing that internal democracy remains vital to the party’s growth.
Speaking, Chairman APC North East Zonal Congress, Mr.Simon Nguam,said the congress was conducted by consensus.
The new Executives elected were Shuaibu Idris as Zonal Vice Chairman, Baba Ali as Secretary, Nite Amangal as Publicity Secretary, and Lumbi Abubakar as Women Leader, among others.
Former Senate Leader, Alhaji Ahmed Lawan, moved the motion for the adoption of consensus, which was seconded by Member representing Akko Federal Constituency and House Whip, Alhaji Usman Kumo.
Also,Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, moved the motion for the adoption of the candidates who emerged through consensus, which was seconded by Mr Ndus Dantata, APC Chairman in Gombe.
