Residents of Kano celebrated this year’s Eid-el-Fitr in a peaceful and joyous atmosphere, despite heightened security measures deployed across the metropolitan area.
Security operatives were strategically stationed in all nooks and crannies of the city, maintaining a visible presence at Eid prayer grounds, major roads, and public places.
The tight security arrangement contributed significantly to the calm and orderly conduct of the celebrations.
The festive mood was evident as residents stepped out in colourful and elegant attires to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Families and friends gathered in celebration, offering prayers and expressing gratitude to Allah for the successful completion of the fasting period.
Acts of kindness and generosity also defined the day, as many people shared delicious meals with neighbours, relatives, and well-wishers, reflecting the spirit of unity and compassion associated with Eid.
Children were seen in high spirits, dressed in new clothes and fully immersed in the celebrations.
Despite prevailing economic challenges, many families made efforts to provide new outfits for their children, while those who could not afford new ones still appeared neat and happy.
Some residents who spoke to our correspondent, including Malam Mohammad Usman and Abdullahi Fagge, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the Sallah festivities.
They described the atmosphere as calm and well-coordinated, commending both security agencies and residents for their cooperation.
Meanwhile, a slight increase in transportation fares was observed across the metropolis, despite this residents continued to board tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, and other commercial vehicles to visit loved ones and relatives.
