The Federal Medical Centre Gusau has announced the successful installation of one hundred and twenty-two solar-powered streetlights donated by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The installation followed a formal request by the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Bello A. Mohammed, aimed at improving lighting and the overall environment within the facility.

In a statement issued by the Information and Public Relations Officer of the centre, Dr. Naziru A. Tukur, the intervention involved the supply and installation of complete solar lighting units across the hospital premises.

According to the statement, the agency provided high-efficiency photovoltaic solar panels, LED lamps, brackets and clamps to ensure a durable and sustainable lighting system within the facility.

The statement noted that the newly installed solar streetlights have been strategically positioned to improve illumination across the hospital, particularly during night hours.

It explained that the project has created a safer and more accessible environment for patients, staff and visitors within the medical facility.

The hospital management said the project would also guarantee reliable lighting during power outages, ensure continuity of healthcare services, reduce electricity costs and lower dependence on diesel-powered generators.

Reacting to the development, Dr. Bello A. Mohammed expressed appreciation to the Rural Electrification Agency for its prompt response to the hospital’s request.

He described the intervention as a significant step towards improving healthcare service delivery to the people.

Dr. Mohammed added that the management of the centre would continue to seek partnerships with relevant agencies and stakeholders to further upgrade the hospital’s infrastructure and services.
