The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Kabir Yahaya Gusau as the pioneer Managing Director of the Gusau International Airport.

The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, disclosed the approval in Gusau, explaining that the appointment forms part of efforts by the administration to ensure effective coordination and operational readiness of the airport ahead of the commencement of its operations.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Secretary to the State Government, Sulaiman Ahmad Tudu, the airport is expected to significantly boost international connectivity, attract investment opportunities, and stimulate economic development in Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.

According to the statement, Kabir Yahaya Gusau is a seasoned aviation professional with over three decades of experience in aviation operations and airspace management.

During his career, he served in several strategic positions within the Nigerian aviation sector, including Airspace Manager at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Gombe Airport, and Special Assistant to the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the agency.

Until his appointment, he was the General Manager, Aeronautical Information Services at the headquarters of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency in Abuja.

The statement further explains that the new Managing Director holds a Master’s Degree in Transport Planning from Lagos State University, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Transport Planning from the same institution.

He also obtained professional certification in Aeronautical Communication from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria.

Governor Lawal urged the new Managing Director to deploy his wealth of experience towards ensuring effective coordination and seamless airport operations in line with international aviation standards.
