Nigerians have been Urged to apply basic intelligence and adopt cloud and cyber security measures to avoid falling victims to online fraudsters and other criminal elements.
The Chief Executive officer of a Technology Firm, Mr David Kevin, made the call during a one-day cyber security training held in Kaduna, where participants were educated on practical strategies for protecting their personal data and digital platforms.
According to Mr. Kevin, the rising rate of cybercrime makes it imperative for internet users to take responsibility for safeguarding their online presence.
The Cyber Crime Manager, Miss Olajumoke Elizabeth Oloyede, also expressed concern over Nigeria’s negative ranking in global cybercrime reports.
She described the situation as disheartening, noting that it had contributed to lack of trust and confidence in Nigerians when travelling abroad.
Another Speaker at the training, Mr. Maruf Balogun highlighted common tactics used by cybercriminals, including fake bank alerts and deceptive messages designed to manipulate unsuspecting individuals.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and verify information before responding to suspicious online requests.
The training attracted participants from various sectors and focused on practical measures such as secure password management, cloud protection and identifying suspicious online activities.
