Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has announced plans to construct a specialist hospital dedicated to women and children as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.
The Governor made the announcement during a tour of the state’s 21 local government areas, with a stop in Yola North Local Government Area.
Governor Fintiri said his administration would no longer tolerate preventable deaths of women and children in the 21st century, stressing that inadequate healthcare systems must not be allowed to claim innocent lives. According to him, the proposed specialist hospital is a direct response to this commitment.
He reassured residents that his government remains focused on infrastructural development across the state, noting that the impact of his administration’s legacies, policies, and programmes is visible in all parts of Adamawa.
“We will continue to serve the people with dedication, fairness, and sincerity,” the governor said.
In separate remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Yayaji Mijinyawa, and the Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, Alhaji Jibril Ibrahim Jimeta, commended Governor Fintiri for what they described as his transformative projects across the state.
While appreciating government interventions in health, education, infrastructure, security, and empowerment programmes, they appealed to the governor to also extend support to traders in the state to enable them benefit more from good governance.
As part of the visit, Governor Fintiri commissioned the newly constructed Yola North Local Government Area Secretariat, recently completed by his administration.
The event featured goodwill messages from elders, stakeholders, youth, and women groups, while the highlight was a colourful display of traditional dances by various tribes in Jimeta, celebrating Adamawa State’s rich cultural diversity.
