The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kwara State chapter, has dismissed as false, misleading and malicious an online report alleging that its state chairman, Alhaji Shehu Garba, was arrested over kidnapping and terrorism-related offences.
In a statement personally signed by him, Alhaji Garba described the allegation as entirely baseless and a fabrication by enemies of peace.
He said at no time was he arrested, invited, interrogated or investigated by any security agency in Kwara State or elsewhere in Nigeria in connection with kidnapping, terrorism or the sponsorship of banditry.
According to him, there is no security report, official record or credible source to support the claims published by an online platform identified as “Kwara Update.”
Alhaji Garba said the publication was a calculated attempt to tarnish his image as a respected community leader who has consistently worked with government authorities, security agencies and traditional institutions to promote peaceful coexistence, dialogue and security across Kwara State.
He noted that he is widely known for his commitment to conflict resolution and law-abiding conduct.
The MACBAN chairman warned that the careless use of terms such as “terrorism,” “Fulani bandits” and “admission to kidnapping” without evidence is irresponsible and dangerous, as it fuels ethnic profiling, incites public resentment and undermines efforts to build trust between communities and security institutions.
He stressed that MACBAN has repeatedly and publicly condemned kidnapping, banditry and all forms of criminal activity, regardless of those involved.
Alhaji Garba demanded an immediate retraction of the publication and a public apology, warning that failure to do so would leave him with no option but to pursue lawful means to protect his integrity and reputation.
He urged members of the public to disregard the report and to always verify information through official channels before sharing.
