Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded a major operational success against terrorists in Zamfara State, killing six bandits, destroying their camps, and rescuing a kidnapped underage girl during a coordinated offensive in the Sububu Forest of Maradun Local Government Area.
The operation was conducted by troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Sector 2, as part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist enclaves and restore peace in the state.
A statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain David Adewusi, said the offensive commenced at Indulumu village, where troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle and neutralised two of them. One AK-47 rifle was recovered during the encounter.

The troops subsequently advanced to Ruduno village, where they met stiff resistance from the terrorists. However, the soldiers overpowered them, killing four additional fighters.
Recovered items included another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and two motorcycles used by the terrorists, which were destroyed at the scene.
During a follow-up sweep of the forest, the troops rescued a kidnapped underage girl, Halira Ibrahim, bringing relief to her family and community after her ordeal in captivity.
The statement further disclosed that several terrorist camps and support structures were destroyed in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga, and Kukatara, significantly degrading the group’s logistics and operational capabilities.
Captain Adewusi reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist elements in Zamfara State and called on residents to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies.
