Kwara State Government has distributed nutritional and educational support items to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), in Gwanara Community, Baruten local government area of the state.

Speaking during the distribution of the items ,the state Commissioner for women Affairs ,Opeyemi Afolashade, reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to ensuring that every child counts in the state.

Represented by the Deputy Director, Child Development Directorate, Hajia Rekiat Bello, the commissioner said the items are meant to provide for the necessities of the children inorder not to feel neglected.

The Commissioner commended Emir of Gwanara for his resilience in ensuring peace and harmony in the community.

In a remark the Chairman, Parents Teachers Association Gwanara, Alhaji Musa Aliyu, appreciated the state government for the palliative given to the students.

He noted that the gift will further encourage the beneficiaries to remain dedicated to their studies.

Items distributed included Rice, Beans, Garri, Sugar, Palm Oil, Vegetable Oil, School Uniforms, Exercise Books, Sandals, Socks, School Bags, Writing Materials among others.
