Kwara State government has assured Doctors and other health workers in the State of improved welfare packages.
Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, gave the assurance during the stakeholders’ engagement at the General Hospital, in Offa.
He said the present administration is committed to providing quality and accessible health care to the people of the state.
According to the Executive Secretary, plans are on the way to sponsor medical students annually, including other benefits in order to attract and retain them to serve in the State hospitals to bridge the existing gaps.
Dr. Malik appealed to stakeholders in the host community to continue with their public-spirited initiatives to ensure that Offa general hospital meets the health care needs of residents as well as the neighbouring states.
He further sought the synergy with the Offa community in the State government’s viral circulation for the recruitment of medical doctors into the state civil service.
The Executive Secretary maintained that more nurses are being recruited to augment the existing once, which would improve service delivery in the health care sector.
In a remark,the Executive Chairman of Offa Local Government, Suleiman Laro commended the State government for providing the opportunity to the host community to contribute to the affairs of the government health facility in the community
He stated that the Council would always complement the efforts of the State government towards improving the well-being of people in Offa.
For his part, the Offa Descendants Union (ODU) Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello , appealed for the upgrade of Offa General Hospital to a teaching hospital, considering the number of higher institutions in the city and the influx of people from neighbouring States for health care needs.
In his remarks the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muyideen Hussein, prayed for the State government and appreciated the developmental strides made in the Offa Local Government Council.
