The Member representing Zango/Jaba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Amos Gwamna Magaji, has charged religious leaders to remain steadfast in the preaching of the word of God and not be distracted by worldly influences or intimidated by prevailing challenges.
Mr. Magaji made the call while speaking at a Thanksgiving Service held at New Estate Baptist Church, Kamazou, Kaduna, where he emphasized the critical role of clergy in shaping moral values and strengthening society through fearless and truthful preaching.
He urged preachers to stand firm in their divine calling, drawing lessons from current societal realities and remaining unwavering in their commitment to the service of God.
According to him, religious leaders must uphold truth and righteousness regardless of external pressures.
The lawmaker further noted that societal decay is closely linked to poor parental guidance, stressing that the judgment of God would also reflect how parents raise their children.
He said parents have a responsibility to instill discipline, obedience and moral values in their children to prepare them for responsible citizenship and national development.
The lawmaker submitted that if parents succeed in raising their children in a disciplined and godly environment, Nigeria’s challenges would be reduced as morally upright citizens are the foundation of a stable and progressive nation.
In his sermon, the Church Pastor, Reverend Alhamdu Buru, stated that Jesus Christ came into the world to bring light by driving away darkness.
He explained that without Jesus Christ, the world would have been plunged into chaos, as peace would have been overtaken by forces of darkness and evil.
Reverend Buru added that the birth of Jesus Christ was unique and divinely announced long before it happened, stressing that Christ manifested the true word of God, which remains inseparable from light, truth and salvation for humanity.
