Police in Sokoto have arrested the leader of a notorious cult group, Muhammed Muktar popularly known as SAI MALAM in the state.

Parading the suspects, the Commissioner of police in the state CP Ahmed Musa said the command had also arrested a rapist who preyed on young girls under false pretences.

The CP said the operations which formed part of an intensified efforts to restoring peace, protecting residents and dismantling criminal networks, led to the recovery of a live python allegedly used for ritual and assorted fetish materials and charms.

He explained that discreet investigations are ongoing in a bid to arresting the remaining fleeing suspects and ensure involved face the full wrath of the law.

CP Ahmed Musa also issued a strong security advice, ahead of Yuletide season warning that criminals often exploit festive periods marked by travel and social gatherings

The Police Command reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, calling on residents to remain law abiding and support the Police with timely information to keep the state safe.
