The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says the administration of President Bola Tinubu is laying strong foundations for national security, economic growth, and long-term renewal.
He spoke on Friday night at a dinner with All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja.
The Minister said the Tinubu administration took office at a challenging time, requiring bold decisions to stabilise the economy and address long-standing security concerns while keeping Nigeria’s future in focus.
He noted that early gains are already being recorded, including improved investor confidence, increased oil production, better revenue performance, and targeted support for states, businesses, and vulnerable citizens.
Idris stressed that transparent communication and citizen engagement remain central to the government’s approach, adding that reforms must be clearly explained to Nigerians to build trust and a shared national purpose.
He also highlighted the 2026 budget estimates of ₦58.18 trillion presented by President Tinubu to the National Assembly, noting that Defence and Security, Infrastructure, Education, and Health were given priority.
Quoting the President, he said the sectors are closely connected, as security drives investment, education and health boost productivity, and infrastructure supports jobs and business growth.
The Minister explained that national security remains a top priority in 2026, with plans to modernise the armed forces, strengthen intelligence-led policing, improve border security, deploy technology-based surveillance, and support community-level peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
He described APC support groups as key partners beyond election periods, urging them to help defend facts, counter misinformation, and explain government policies to the public.
Muhammed Idris called on them to actively support the 2026 budget, tagged the Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity.
The Minister assured the support groups that their contributions are recognised, while calling for unity and renewed commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The event was attended by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari; the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Abdulhamid Dembos; the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Bulama; the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba-Ndace; and leaders of several APC support groups.
