The Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has empowered two hundred and fifty elderly persons with fifty million naira under the renewed hope initiative elderly support scheme RHIESS in nasarawa state.

Speaking at the disbursement exercise, the first lady said that each of the beneficiaries would be given two hundreds thousand naira to enable them to enjoy life in old age.

She said, the scheme was designed to support elderly citizens aged 65 and above in all the 36 states of the federation and the federal capital territory FCT Abuja, veterans from the defence and police officers’ wives association DEPOWA.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by the wife of deputy governor Mrs Tosin Akabe, said the initiative aligned with the renewed hope agenda of the federal government, which seeks to promote inclusive growth and shared prosperity by ensuring that no nigerian is left behind.

The first lady recalled that she had supported over 100,000 women petty traders and small business owners, including PWDs, with direct financial grants to grow their businesses in the last two years.

According to her, the elderly citizens needed to be taken care of, especially during this festive season, to enable them to enjoy the period.

In her address, Wife Governor Abdullahi Sule Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule expressed gratitude to the country’s first lady for her love and care for everybody, especially the vulnerable groups in the country.

She said the beneficiaries were carefully selected from the 13 local government and urged them to use the money judiciously.
